Lake Biwa Environmental Research Institute promotes research through collaboration among three divisions: the Administration Division, the Comprehensive Analysis Division, and the Environmental Monitoring Division.

Comprehensive Analysis Division
　: Promoting research to address environmental issues related to Lake Biwa and Shiga Prefecture
　: Conducting comprehensive analyses of data and findings obtained from monitoring and surveys　　　　

Environmental Monitoring Division
　: Monitoring water quality, air quality, chemical substances, and more in accordance with laws and regulations
　: Ensuring the accuracy management of analysis companies within the prefecture
